Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere and Akuoma Omeoga will represent Nigeria at the Winter Olympics - the first time for the country - after completing five necessary races for the Pyeong Chang bobsled event, reports Colin Udoh from ESPN.

These three women completed five of the five qualifying races on Wednesday, becoming the first African team - men or women - to qualify for the Bobsled category.

Seun driver told ESPN:
This is a huge milestone for sports in Nigeria, Nothing makes me prouder than to know that I can play a small role in creating opportunities for winter sports to take place in Nigeria. Our objective now is to be the best representation of Africa that the Winter Olympics have ever witnessed.



Visa also announces plans to help consolidate the team for a trip to the Winter Olympics.

According to Daily Post, head of Marketing and Innovation Mark Visa, Chris Curtin said

The women of the women's bobsled team from Nigeria joined a diverse athlete from the team: Mikaela Shiffrin (United States), Chloe Kim (United States), Gus Kenworthy (United States), Hilary Knight (United States) Oksana Masters (United States) McMorris (Canada), Lee Sang-Hwa (South Korea), Kamil Stoch (Poland) and others.
